S: They were surprised and impressed – his teaching was so forthright, so confident, so authoritative, not the quibbling and quoting they were used to. Luke 4:32 (MSG)
O: There is nothing like a good teacher – especially one who models both positional and personal leadership – confident in their teaching, as well as their authority. You weren’t aren’t just a good teacher, You are the best!
A: I cannot imagine what it must have been like to hear You teach. I mean, I’ve heard and learned from some pretty incredible preachers and teachers – but You take the cake! I want to follow after You! To always be learning from You.
I want to approach Your written Word with this kind of appreciation – this kind of reference and awe. I want to understand more about Your Kingdom. I want Your words to transform me from the inside out. That kind of learning comes when my heart is prepared to receive. If I want to learn more, I need to pray first – ask for understanding, for inspiration, revelation, and wisdom.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)
P: Jesus, I love to hear Your voice. I love to imagine what it must have been like to hear You speak. I can’t wait for the day I can sit with You in heaven. Until then, Holy Spirit, continue to guide me. Keep me on the path of righteousness and everlasting truth. Keep me close to You. I love You, Teacher.
