Day 64 – Just as You Say
S: “Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”7:7-8 (ESV)
O: Authority – the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience. This is what the centurion focuses on – he can’t help it; it’s been ingrained into him by the military. He knows his place and the authority that rests in it.
But it’s when he acknowledges Yours that his miracle occurs.
A/P: You are the King of kings and Lord of lords. There are times I’ve missed this, Jesus. There are times I’ve failed to recognize and acknowledge Your authority – the authority You hold over everything always. I’ve failed to ask You to simply say the word. Please forgive me, Lord?
And then I am, just as You say…
Forgiven.
